MIMkids Musical Adventures

Grab a MIMkids Passport and set off on a global musical adventure with MIMkids Musical Adventures, an interactive program for kids ages 6–10. Young participants will discover cultures from around the world through hands-on music-making, instrument creation, and guided exploration of the museum’s exhibits. Each session highlights a different continent, giving kids a fun, well-rounded introduction to global music while collecting passport stamps along the way:
January 10 | Learn about China and craft an Erhu.
February 14 | Learn about Colombia and craft an ocarina.
March 14 | Learn about hip hop and craft a speaker.
April 11 | Learn about the Sudan and craft a lyre.
May 9 | Learn about Hungary and craft a zither.
June 13 | Learn about Hawaii and craft an ‘ulī‘ulī rattle.
July 11 | Learn about the United States and craft a banjo.
August 8 | Learn about Jamaica and craft a rumba box.
September 12 | Learn about Syria and craft a riqq frame drum.
October 10 | Learn about Germany and craft a tuba.
November 14 | Learn about Indigenous Nova Scotia and craft a ji’kmaqn clapper.
December 12 | Learn about Indonesia and craft a ceng-ceng cymbal.
