Plan your next family adventure at one of 24 arts and culture organizations around AZ

Arizona is home to many great arts and cultural organizations that attract families year-round, so Expect More Arizona partnered with 24 of them to show how easy it can be to turn everyday adventures into fun learning opportunities!

Initially launched in December 2014 with just 6 partners, the arts and culture project shows parents and families how to experience arts and culture venues with their children in different and meaningful ways.

For example, ask a child visiting Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff where they think astronauts might travel next, or how they would feel about living on another planet. Or consider a trip to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson where kids can describe similarities and differences of various cactus plants and given them funny names. And everyone loves the Phoenix Zoo, but imagine the fun parents could have watching their children try to move like the animals during their visit.

Regardless of which destination you choose – and we hope you’ll visit them all – the point is there’s always a place for education

The growth of the project is exciting and shows the commitment each arts and culture organization has made to support students throughout Arizona.

Each participating arts and culture organization has identified learning activities specific to their site, with a focus on things adults can do with children. The activity sheets are available to download online, or in hard copy at each location. Spanish-language activity sheets for many of the venues will be available soon.

The project is made possible through the generous support of the APS Foundation, a partner in the movement for world-class education for all children.
