Every Baby Deserves a Clean Diaper

Your Family Can Make a Difference This Month

Every parent wants to give their child a healthy start in life. Yet for nearly 1 in 2 families with young children, something as basic as a clean diaper can be out of reach.

Because diapers cannot be purchased with SNAP or WIC benefits, many Arizona families are forced to choose between buying diapers and paying for food, rent, or utilities. Without enough diapers, parents may be unable to keep their children in childcare, making it difficult to work or attend school.

Arizona Diaper Bank Helps Families Across Arizona

For more than 30 years, the Arizona Diaper Bank has been helping families overcome these challenges by providing essential hygiene products to those experiencing financial hardship. Founded in Tucson in 1994 as the nation’s first diaper bank, the organization now serves communities across Central and Southern Arizona through a network of more than 55 nonprofit, healthcare, education, and social service partners.

While diapers remain at the heart of its mission, the Arizona Diaper Bank offers a range of programs designed to improve health, dignity, and family stability. These include emergency diaper distribution for infants and toddlers, adult incontinence supply distribution for seniors and individuals with disabilities, period product distribution, a potty-training initiative that provides educational resources and potty chairs to families, and a growing cloth diaper program that promotes long-term affordability and sustainability. Together, these programs help parents remain employed, children stay healthy and ready to learn, seniors maintain their independence, and families reduce the financial burden of purchasing essential hygiene products.

First-ever Statewide Diaper Drive

This September, the Arizona Diaper Bank is inviting communities across the state to participate in its first-ever Statewide Diaper Drive, held during National Diaper Need Awareness Week, September 14–20. The campaign aims to collect 1 million diapers and essential hygiene supplies for Arizona families.

One of the organization’s greatest needs is children’s diaper sizes 4, 5, and 6, which are consistently in the highest demand. Donations of pull-ups, wipes, period products, and adult incontinence supplies are also urgently needed.

“A clean diaper is more than a necessity, it’s the foundation for a child’s health, wellbeing, and opportunity,” said Yevette Sykes, Chief Executive Officer of the Arizona Diaper Bank. “When our community comes together to support families with essential hygiene products, we’re investing in healthier children, stronger families, and a brighter future for Arizona.”

Families, schools, businesses, faith communities, and neighborhood organizations can all make a difference by hosting a diaper drive, making a financial donation, volunteering, or simply helping spread awareness. Together, Arizona can ensure every child has the essentials they need to grow, learn, and thrive. To learn more or get involved, visit www.diaperbank.org.
