CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF PHOENIX TESTS NEW EXHIBIT IDEA – BRAVE JOURNEY
Opening to the Public on August 16th

PHOENIX, AZ (August 12, 2025) – The Children’s Museum of Phoenix will be introducing an exciting new exhibit in our Prototype Space for the next three months. BRAVE JOURNEY will preview to Museum members during Members Night on Friday, August 15th and open to the general public on Saturday, August 16th.

BRAVE JOURNEY invites children to embark on an imaginative adventure, beginning with a climb into the hull of a flight simulator that launches their creativity and curiosity into new worlds. On the ground, children can build cities and landscapes to fly over. Nearby, young explorers will engage with early literacy through tactile play at the Word Well, Word Slide, and Word-Go-Round. Alphascape walls offer additional opportunities for letter-building and word-making, while children explore shapes and symbols on a stacking set designed especially for them.

Rooted in the Museum’s commitment to nurturing the whole child, BRAVE JOURNEY supports key areas of early development including attention and focus, imagination, and early literacy. The exhibit is designed to foster meaningful time between children and caregivers—encouraging playful connection, communication, and mutual appreciation.

This imaginative space is crafted with salvaged and surplus materials using low-tech, analog makerspace production methods, celebrating creativity, sustainability, and hands-on discovery. Throughout the exhibit, children are encouraged to practice character skills such as bravery, curiosity, kindness, creativity, and respect—values that help them thrive both at the Museum and beyond.

BRAVE JOURNEY is the first in a series of prototypes that will help shape the vision and direction of the Museum’s upcoming expansion—27,000 square feet of currently unused space being transformed into new experiences for children and families.

By prototyping this exhibit, the Museum will gather real-time visitor feedback, identify opportunities for improvement, and refine exhibit concepts based on user experience. This process ensures that future exhibit installations are not only engaging and educational, but also deeply aligned with the Museum’s mission to engage the minds, muscles, and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them.

Admission into Brave Journey is free with paid Museum admission of $19.00 per person. Children under the age of one and Museum members are free.
