The New Planned-Giving Campaign Unlocks Matching Funds Today While Helping Donors Create a Legacy of Hope

PHOENIX – Phoenix Children’s is launching the Legacy Challenge, a new planned-giving campaign that transforms future charitable commitments into immediate support for children and families across Arizona.

The campaign will run for up to 18 months, or until the full one million dollars in matching funds has been unlocked. Donors who include Phoenix Children’s Foundation in a will, trust, retirement plan beneficiary designation, life insurance policy or other qualifying planned gift can activate an immediate contribution equal to 10% of their future gift, up to $25,000, made in their honor to support children today.

A Legacy of Hope

For many families, legacy planning is about more than assets. It is about values, compassion, generosity, hope, and the desire to care for others. Through the Legacy Challenge, donors can pass those values forward while helping ensure children receive the care they need today while improving the health of a generation for years to come. Every legacy gift helps advance lifesaving research, innovative treatments, and specialized care, creating healthier futures for children and strengthening the well-being of generations to come.

“At Phoenix Children’s, we know the most meaningful legacies are built on compassion, generosity and a desire to make life better for others,” said Phoenix Children’s VP of Individual Giving, Nicola Lawrence. “The Legacy Challenge allows supporters to create a gift that will benefit children for years to come while also unlocking critical funding that helps kids and families right now. It is a powerful way to turn a future intention into immediate impact.”

The matching funds can be directed to one of four strategic priorities at Phoenix Children’s: pediatric research, behavioral health, patient family assistance programs or the Hope Fund, which supports the hospital’s area of greatest need.

Estate gifts that have already been established but have not previously been shared with Phoenix Children’s may also qualify, giving donors the opportunity to maximize their impact today while creating a sustainable future for Phoenix Children’s.

How to Participate

To participate, donors document their gift and complete a notification form. Once confirmed, Phoenix Children’s makes the matching gift in the donor’s honor, creating an immediate impact while preserving the donor’s long-term legacy.

“Many people are surprised to learn they can make a significant future gift through their estate plan while maintaining flexibility during their lifetime,” said Lawrence. “What makes the Legacy Challenge unique is that it immediately strengthens vital programs for children and families while honoring a donor’s long-term commitment to future generations.”

Free Planning Resources

Phoenix Children’s also offers a free will-planning resources and personalized guidance through its Gift Planning team to help donors explore options that align with their goals and values.
